To capitalize on the area's rich musical legacy, Memphis and Shelby County government leaders formed a music commission that will work to nurture new talent and recruit music industry business to Memphis.  Memphis is also home to the Blues Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the tradition of Blues Music as well as the history of the genre.  Memphis is home to one of seven National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences(NARAS) districts in the U.S. There has also been considerable effort in providing a comfortable environment for the Motion Picture Industry in the Memphis Metro area, due in large part to  the work  of the Memphis and Shelby County Film Commission.
